Wombat Beginnings
Like many small businesses, Wombat grew out of a personal need. When Laramie was pregnant in 2021, she wondered what coat she was going to wear when the temps in Fairbanks, Alaska—she and Eric’s former home—dropped below freezing. Eric, using the sewing skills he learned at his other job (this is a side gig!) sewed Laramie inserts for her ‘puffy’ coat and shorts, and for her nordic ski pants. Laramie was able to comfortably keep getting outside in frigid temps to mush, ski, and otherwise adventure until she gave birth to their son in February of 2022.
Laramie loved the insert so much and they received so much interest in it around town that they decided to make a few more. Wombat Loftworks was born. We called our son "the womb-bat” in utero, hence the name!
Wombat Loftworks is now located in Twisp, Washington.
